What is PYT?

Our journey began through lived experience with the realities of diabetes.
After 27 years of living with the condition and experiencing a series of severe, life-altering complications—including stroke and transplant—our founder saw firsthand how much critical education is missing for girls and women navigating this disease.
What began as a personal fight to manage and survive diabetes evolved into a mission to ensure others are equipped with the knowledge needed to understand their health earlier, make informed decisions, and prevent avoidable complications.

Our Purpose

1
Mission
The PYT Society is dedicated to educating and empowering girls, teens, and women impacted by diabetes through accessible education, awareness, and advocacy. Our mission is to close the gap in early understanding and help prevent avoidable, life-threatening complications through real-life, practical health education.
2
Vision
Our vision is a future where every girl and woman has the knowledge and resources to understand diabetes early, manage it confidently, and avoid preventable complications. PYT is working toward establishing a Diabetes Education Center in the Dallas–Fort Worth area to provide ongoing learning, support, and community-based care.
3
Core Values
We believe in education as prevention, early awareness as empowerment, and real-life knowledge as a pathway to better health outcomes. PYT is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and lived experience—ensuring that every woman and girl we serve feels seen, informed, and supported in her journey.

Programs and Services
1
Diabetes Education & Prevention
Our Diabetes Education & Prevention Programs provide individuals and families with the knowledge and tools needed to better understand diabetes and take control of their health. Through blood sugar education, daily management support, nutrition guidance, and healthy lifestyle training, we help participants build sustainable habits that improve long-term wellness. We also educate communities about diabetes-related complications and prevention strategies to encourage early intervention and healthier living.
2
PYT Youth Diabetes Initiative
The PYT Youth Diabetes Initiative is a structured support program designed for youth living with or at risk for diabetes. This initiative combines education, mentorship, life skills, and emotional support to help young people navigate their diagnosis with confidence. Participants gain practical knowledge about diabetes management while also developing self-esteem, discipline, healthy coping strategies, and leadership skills that prepare them for long-term success.
3
Advocacy & Awareness
The PYT Society is committed to increasing diabetes awareness and improving health outcomes through advocacy and community outreach. Our Advocacy & Awareness initiatives include public education campaigns, partnerships with schools and healthcare clinics, and community health events designed to promote prevention, early detection, and access to resources. We work to reduce stigma, educate underserved communities, and create lasting health equity solutions.
4
Resource Navigation & Family Support
Managing diabetes can be overwhelming for individuals and families. Our Resource Navigation & Family Support services help connect families with critical medical referrals, insurance guidance, diabetes supplies, and community resources. We also provide family education and coaching to ensure caregivers and loved ones feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout the diabetes management journey.
5
Financial Assistance
Our Financial Assistance Programs provide direct support to individuals and families facing financial hardships related to diabetes care and management. Assistance may include support for medications, medical supplies, transportation to appointments, emergency needs, wellness resources, and other diabetes-related expenses. Through compassionate support and community partnerships, we strive to reduce barriers to care and improve quality of life for those in need.
